One step at a time! That is how I started my journey. It is possible to make small changes on our plate. Small changes still gives results. My approach to a healthier health journey is all about the why's for eating mostly plants. The following ideas are just ideas. I am not a nutritionist or dietician, but I and a Vegan Health Coach who can give you suggestions as your take your net steps to eating healthier. Stay the course! Contact me to leave me a comment .
Sundays are satisfying! After church, I look forward to a plate full of vegetables. Seasonings used within the limits make the vegetables taste delightful. Minimal to no animal protein! (Watch the fried foods) There is protein in plants. B12 Vitamins are also a good suggestion.
Sometimes you have warm up food from yesterday. If not, I have pasta day! Whole grain pasta, multi-grain, or hidden vegetable pasta works for most. Add your favorite vegetables to your sauce seasoned to your liking and you have another great plate.
Tacos! Nachos! Tostitos! It's like making a warm salad with all of the fixings. I would suggest watching the sodium in the tacos and etc. There are better brands of nachos to use. Protein? There are 39 grams of protein in black beans (soak them well) and 24 grams in ground beef. You would be amazed to know that there are better benefits in the plant proteins. Overall, add mostly plants on the plate.
There are soooo many types of burgers out there. In the beginning of your journey, there are many restaurants that offer impossible burgers and black bean burgers. It is worth a try to taste different ones or making your own. There are health benefits to switching out burger protein made from a cow. Aside from burgers, there are other wraps for this day. All else, minimize the intake of pork, chicken, and beef for health's sake.
Thanks to my brother, I have breakfast nights on Thursday. I told you plants on the plate ain't so bad! (smiles) There are soo many choices for breakfast from oatmeal, grits, smoothies, rice bowls and more. I know you see the sausage in the picture. Well, I found a really good plant-based sausage company that shocked me in the taste. Contact me for more, but I hope this helps you this far!
Pizza! It's the weekend! I made my own pizza, but this is a time to relax and celebrate the small changes from the week. Have a slice of pizza with a nice salad or warm vegetables as a side dish! The key is to make small changes each week and overtime this concept will be easier to practice weekly.
This picture is inviting to the eye, but this is what I enjoy. Saturdays, I like to take a break and literally consume mostly plants. These dishes are snapshots over many Saturdays over a few months. With the exception of the red velvet cake picture, all of the other pictures are Vegan! That only means I made food out of real vegetables and fried or baked it for the crispy crunchy concepts. I also purchased chick 'n wings on the last picture. Always watch your sodium and know your own limits in
